eSATS Community Portal Launch
News and Happenings!
Volume1 - Issue1
June 27, 2007
Dear Colleagues,
A New Beginning
eSATSi is ramping up itsi advocacy efforts after two successful years with the Arizona legislature. First out of the box is our totally revamped website: eSATS Communityi Portal. Since we have few models for an advocacy web site, we decided to design our own. The home page allows you to enter into one of eight different communities with a role in transforming Arizona K12 education with eLearningi. The unique eSATS advocacy design integrates the disparate goals of each of these communities. We have the notion that form should follow function.
How to Get Started
Check out eSATS Community Portal at www.azelearning.net. Explore its community participation model by using your community link on the left menu. Once within your community, an array of advocacy challenges and learning opportunitiesi will present themselves. The learning opportunities will keep you informed on what is happening in Arizona and the global K-12 eLearning world and what are the emerging issues in K-12 eLearning. The advocacy challenges may range from "Contact your legislator now or all hope is lost!" to responding to a request for information from you and your community.
Evolution of the Site
The June 27th, 2007 launch is the beginning of "sea trials." We believe this boat floats but we need to take a run in open water and have time to finish installing our gear.
eSATS advocacy has thrived for years with participation and support from our communities. But success has not been yet been achieved. We must redouble our efforts and open new paths. This is where you come in. We need you to use this website to advocate for eLearning transformationi of K-12 education. Use the link in the home page Welcome message to see how to get started. Check out the FAQs, news feeds, eventi schedules and resources. Contact us on what should be added or changed to improve the site so that we can help you support you community advocacy efforts for K-12 eLearning.
Our team will use your recommendations to continually enhance the site. We are also looking for copywriters to help us add new resources on the web site. Let us know if you are interested. If you have suggestions, resources that you would like to add, contact us or add the resources yourself. We will show you how, click here.
Background
We are using Drupal. It is a website authoring system (www.drupal.org) designed to deliver eLearning and manage content. Kelley Graham website creator (www.toasterz.com) and Dr. Margaret Martinez, Website Project Manager (www.trainingplace.com) were engaged for eSATS by one of our sponsors Richard Brincefield (www.globalliteracy.org) to help eSATS develop this advocacy community site. This new eSATS website is their creation. So enjoy reading about eSATS and then talk to us. We plan to have eSATS Community Portal fully operational by the end of July. More importantly, we will continue to develop the eSATS Community Portal until it is optimized as an advocacy engine. Determine how your organization can integrate with other Arizona communities. Join the eSATS collective effort to bring effective eLearning to all teacher-student learning relationships in Arizona.
This is an eSATS email to keep you in the loop regarding K-12 eLearning publications, researchi, eventsi, and much more. It's designed to be a short easy read that will keep you connected to everything that eSATS has to offer.
